Literary England: London and Lake District Tour

The first stop on your London and Lake District Tour is the capital itself, where you’ll spend three nights in a luxury hotel in the center of the city. A private city tour of London is included in your vacation package. From T.S. Eliot to Zadie Smith, London continues to inspire great literary works. Visit Kensington, once home to literary giants such as Thackery and Joyce. In Islington, you’ll find the romantic poet William Blake’s final resting place. Walk the Millennium Bridge over the River Thames to see Shakespeare’s Globe and performance of classic plays that inspire. 

Also included in your vacation package is a special day tour to Oxford, Cotswolds, and Stratford-upon-Avon. Oxford is one of the world’s great academic centers, and is steeped in literary history. The Lake District is next on your itinerary, which you’ll reach by train, traveling in first class from London. A special literary tour is also included in this section of the tour. Surrounded by nature and wildlife that inspired Beatrix Potter’s classic book The Tale of Peter Rabbit, swing by The World of Beatrix Potter exhibit and let your imagination run wild. Enjoy a cup of tea and slice of cake, and then an afternoon of verse as you learn of the poet, William Wordsworth. End the day in a pub that served pints through a hole in a wall in 1612, and once hosted Charles Dickens.
