Two nights with Trinity College and the Book of Kells, Christ Church Cathedral, the Guinness Storehouse, and the Merry Ploughboy evening. The Book of Kells is worth an early arrival — the queues build fast after 10 a.m. The Merry Ploughboy is a genuine traditional music experience rather than a staged one; the musicians there are the real thing.
Day 3–5: Edinburgh
Hotel: Market Street Hotel
Three nights with the Royal Mile walking tour, Edinburgh Castle, the Platinum whisky tasting, and the Highlands excursion. The Highlands day follows the road through the Trossachs and up past Loch Lomond — the castle visits along the way add real historical weight to a landscape that holds up on its own.
