If you want to experience the Scottish Highlands on a unique panoramic tour, you should take the historic Jacobite Steam Train from Fort Williams to Mallaig.

Scotland’s weather can be unpredictable, so pack waterproof clothing, sturdy shoes, and an umbrella. A water-resistant daypack and an extra pair of socks for day trips are also a good idea. And don’t forget your passport — you’ll need it to enter the U.K.
In addition to antipyretics, medication against cold symptoms (nasal spray, lozenges etc.) and against diarrhea, you should also have mosquito spray with you. Small mosquitoes are particularly prevalent in Scotland in summer.
The best time to visit Scotland is from April to September. The warm months from May onwards are best for families. However, summer is also when the mosquitoes wake up and can be a real nuisance.
