The chocolate workshop in Lausanne is not a decorative add-on, and it's one I always recommend as a genuine entry point into a Swiss craft tradition that most visitors only experience from the retail side. Pairing it with time in the Lavaux vineyard terraces gives you a version of French-speaking Switzerland that generic itineraries skip entirely. Montreux at one night is calibrated correctly; the lakeside promenade, Chillon Castle, and the Belle Époque facades absorb an afternoon and a morning without the pace stalling. For the Chamonix excursion from Geneva, if conditions are clear, prioritize the Aiguille du Midi cable car above everything else on the day: the 3,842-meter terrace puts you level with the summit ridges in a way that no train view from below can replicate.

Day 1 - 2
Fringed by the Alps and Jura Mountains, and set at the southern end of the magnificent Lake Geneva, Geneva is a French-speaking Swiss city with plenty to offer every type of traveller. The City’s postcard-perfect old town, lined with a maze of cobbled alleys and sprinkled with historical monuments, charming antique stores and quaint cafes, appeals to history buffs, eager shoppers and foodies alike. A slick, modern cosmopolitan city surrounds this old-world charm, housing a thriving community of international expatriates, world-class restaurants, famous luxury jewellers and enough chocolate shops to satisfy even the most avid chocoholics. Geneva specialises in the finer things in life. The selection is overwhelming and makes for some great window shopping, which is practically a national sport in Switzerland.

Just 90 minutes from Geneva, discover the charming alpine town of Chamonix Mont-Blanc on a comfortable panoramic bus ride. Nestled at the foot of Mont Blanc, Europe’s highest peak, this world-famous destination has long attracted mountaineers, nature lovers, and adventurers from around the globe. Chamonix combines breathtaking scenery with a lively village atmosphere. Stroll through its inviting streets, browse local boutiques, and enjoy cozy cafés while surrounded by spectacular mountain views. Whether you are exploring, shopping, or simply relaxing, the presence of Mont Blanc is always impressive. Renowned for its skiing and outdoor activities, Chamonix offers exceptional experiences for visitors year-round. From dramatic peaks to peaceful valleys, it is a place where nature, adventure, and alpine tradition come together.
Day 3 - 5
Resting on the shore of Lake Geneva, in the Vaud region, Lausanne is Switzerland's smallest city and dynamic commercial town with a wealth of culture, atmosphere, extraordinary Alpine scenery, education and sports. It is home to a lively, world-class university and is renowned as the world's Olympic capital. The city is lined by lovely undulating hills which afford residents and visitors spectacular glimpses over Lake Geneva and the Alps, with a medieval centre dominated by a grand Gothic cathedral. The rest of the city boasts museums devoted to diverse interests as Art Brut and the Olympics. A brief leisurely stroll is usually enough to discover immaculate parks and gardens, vibrant shopping districts and impressive architectural heritage.

Follow your experienced guide through Lausanne’s iconic city-centre sights while hearing fun local anecdotes along the way. With a history dating back to the Middle Ages, Lausanne’s old town is best discovered on foot: wander medieval streets and lively squares, admire the soaring Gothic cathedral, and pause on the picturesque Market Steps as the city unfolds below. Continue to Place de la Palud to see the Town Hall and the fountain-filled heart of the old town, then contrast past and present in the Flon district, where bold contemporary architecture and creative energy give Lausanne its modern edge. Along the way, your guide adds context, hidden details, and local stories that bring the Olympic Capital to life.
Day 6
Located in Switzerland's Riviera-Pays-d'Enhaut district in the canton of Vaud, Montreux lies in a sheltered bay on Lake Geneva, surrounded by exquisite terraced vineyards and the breathtaking snow-capped Alps. The lovely resort town is known for its pleasant climate and its famous jazz festival, held annually in June or July. The town boasts an impressive, long, flower-fringed promenade lined with lush pines, cypresses and palm trees, as well as some grand 'Belle Epoque' buildings. Just offshore, visitors will find the remarkable twelfth-century island castle, Chateau Chillon, with double ramparts, a moat and a chapel adorned with impressive fourteenth-century murals. Fans of the band 'Queen' will delight in 'Queen: The Studio Experience': a museum centre at the Montreux Mountain Studios filled with memorabilia of the famous band.

Day 7 - 8
Few towns can boast a position as privileged as the Victorian resort town of Interlaken. As the name implies, this small Swiss gem lies on an alluvial plain between two of Switzerland’s loveliest lakes in the mountainous Bernese Oberland region. Surrounded by crystal-clear streams, incredible waterfalls and extraordinary mountain scenery (including the icy peaks of the Eiger, the Monch and the Jungfrau) Interlaken is an ideal home base for travellers wanting to explore the area. There are plenty of adrenaline-filled activities to thrill adventure-sports enthusiasts, with climbing, hiking and paragliding available in summer and 200km of prime pistes on offer for skiers and snowboarders in winter. Historic paddle steamers cruise the two lakes and a classic funicular will transport you to a high lookout point where you can marvel at the awesome beauty of this picturesque holiday destination.

Treat yourself to an authentic Swiss chocolate experience and step into the role of a chocolatier. At the end of the session, you’ll take home not only your handmade creations—around 400 g of personalized chocolate bars—but also a certificate as a sweet reminder of your achievement. Day 9 - 10

Geneva opens in the French-speaking corner of the country, and the journey moves east and then south into the Bernese Oberland over ten days — each stop with its own distinct character and a different relationship to the lake and the mountains. The Chamonix and Mont Blanc excursion from Geneva establishes the alpine scale early, which gives everything that follows a useful sense of proportion.
What I always tell people about the Bernese Oberland section: Interlaken works best when you commit to at least one mountain excursion rather than staying at valley level. The Jungfrau, the Schilthorn, or the Männlichen are each a different entry point into the high alpine world that the lakes below only suggest. Check the forecast and choose accordingly.
Hotel: Eastwest Hotel
Two nights with the Chamonix and Mont Blanc excursion filling one full day and time in the Old Town and along the lakefront filling the other. The Jet d'Eau — the water jet above the harbor — is best seen at close range from the south bank of the Rhône, where it catches the light differently from the postcard viewpoint on the north side.
Hotel: Royal Savoy Hôtel & Spa Lausanne
Three nights with the walking tour, the chocolate workshop, and the lakeside vineyards and promenades across the stay. The Lavaux vineyard terraces between Lausanne and Montreux are a UNESCO World Heritage Site and best explored on foot — the walking path from Lutry to Cully, with the lake below and the Savoy Alps beyond, is one of the more rewarding afternoon walks in the French-speaking region.
Hotel: Mona Montreux
One night at the point where the lake ends and the mountains close in. The lakeside promenade from Montreux to the Château de Chillon, a 40-minute walk east along the water, earns the afternoon. The castle on its rocky promontory above the lake — one of the best-preserved medieval fortifications in Switzerland — fills the remaining time well.
Hotel: Hotel Carlton-Europe
Two nights between Lake Thun and Lake Brienz, with the Eiger and Mönch filling the southern horizon. The mountain excursions from here are the strongest argument for the allocation: Grindelwald, the Schynige Platte, or the Jungfraujoch depending on weather and preference. Any one of them earns a full day.
Hotel: Eastwest Hotel
A final night before departure. The lakeside promenade in the evening, with the Alps on the southern horizon, is the right close to a journey that began on the same shore ten days earlier.
