The Bürgenstock cliff path from Zurich is the excursion I'd protect first: 500 meters above Lake Lucerne with the Alps across the basin, it's an underrated view that sets the visual tone for the whole Swiss chapter. In Bellagio, arrive by ferry from Como rather than by road; the villa gardens dropping directly to the water on the lakefront approach is the version the road misses entirely. On the Venice island tour, ask to start at Torcello: the Byzantine mosaics in Santa Maria Assunta and the island's quiet are best in the first hour, before Murano and Burano add foot traffic.

Day 1 - 3
Zurich, or 'Zuri' as it is fondly known by its multicultural inhabitants, lies in northern Switzerland at the meeting point of a beautiful lake and river, with the magnificent snow-capped Swiss Alps standing guard high above it. This fairy tale city is renowned for its beauty, cleanliness, efficiency, and heritage. Explore medieval alleyways peppered with quirky corner cafes, steepled churches, trendy taprooms, and world-class galleries and restaurants. A day in Zurich can include browsing the unrivalled selection of luxury stores on it’s famous shopping strip, the Bahnhofstrasse; riding the Polybahn, the 19th-century funicular up a steep hill to admire the spectacular view; or ‘renting’ a free bike or skateboard to meander along the banks of picturesque Lake Zurich. The venerable palace of art at the Kunsthaus is also a major drawcard, containing numerous world-famous masterpieces.

Start your day with a scenic coach ride along Lake Lucerne to the picturesque city of Lucerne. Enjoy a short guided tour past the Chapel Bridge, Town Hall, Jesuit Church, and KKL Culture and Convention Centre.
You’ll then have about six hours to explore Lucerne and the Bürgenstock area at your own pace. Cruise across the lake on the Bürgenstock shuttle boat to Kehrsiten, then take the historic funicular up to the Bürgenstock Resort. Discover the elegant mountain retreat, visit the hotel museum to learn about famous guests like Charlie Chaplin and Audrey Hepburn, and enjoy refreshments on the panoramic terrace. Explore scenic nature trails, walk the Felsenweg path, or take in views from the Hammetschwand viewpoint—and in summer, ride the world’s highest outdoor elevator.
Browse the resort’s shops for Swiss watches, chocolates, and souvenirs before returning to Lucerne by funicular and boat. In the evening, meet your guide for the coach ride back to Zurich.
Day 4 - 6
The vibrant metropolis of Milan is the capital of Italy’s Lombardy region in northern Italy. Always at the forefront of international fashion, Milan’s sleek, glamorous facade has earned it a reputation for superficiality and excessive consumerism. However, beneath the surface lies a treasure trove of historical and architectural wonders—from its magnificent Gothic churches, Baroque mansions, and Art Nouveau palazzos to the striking modern skyscrapers of the Porta Nuova financial district. Must-see landmarks include the spectacular Milan Cathedral (Duomo), the glass-vaulted Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, and of course, La Scala—one of the world’s most renowned opera houses. Milan offers something for everyone: those in search of high-end designer shopping will be more than satisfied, as will visitors interested in fascinating historical sites and extraordinary architectural achievements.

Enjoy a private guided tour of Milan, led by your expert guide, and explore the city’s most iconic landmarks. Your experience begins with hotel pickup if your accommodation is located in the central area; otherwise, a convenient meeting point will be communicated. Start your adventure with a visit to the magnificent Duomo di Milano, where you will not only admire the stunning interior of this Gothic masterpiece but also have the chance to ascend to the terraces. With a ride in the elevator, you will reach the top for panoramic views of Milan, offering an unforgettable perspective of the city and the cathedral itself. The tour continues with external visits to the Sforza Castle, Colonne di San Lorenzo, and the famous Scala Opera House, among other important landmarks. Explore Milan’s rich history and culture as your guide shares fascinating insights along the way.
Starting time: 9:30 am approx.
Day 7
Situated in the Veneto region of northern Italy, the city of Verona is a romantic gem that lives up to its literary fame. It’s no wonder Shakespeare chose this enchanting place as the backdrop for Romeo and Juliet. Travelers come to see Juliet’s iconic balcony and experience the city’s dreamy, timeless atmosphere. Unlike its more crowded neighbor Venice, Verona maintains a calm, relaxed pace. The city’s architectural treasures include the incredible 2,000-year-old Roman Arena, which hosts an acclaimed summer opera festival. Baroque façades, stately palazzos, and cobblestone alleys are home to museums packed with historical and artistic treasures. Verona also boasts stylish boutiques and outstanding restaurants serving some of Italy’s finest cuisine.

Day 8 - 10
Venice is a small, unique city in Italy’s Veneto region, a historic center made up of 118 small islands in a lagoon of the Adriatic Sea, connected by a complex network of canals and footbridges. The stately palaces and ancient churches remain as fascinating reminders of what was once a major trading hub between Europe and the Orient. From the famous Gothic Doge’s Palace and the breathtaking St. Mark’s Basilica to the awe-inspiring brilliance of Titian’s Assumption altarpiece lighting up an entire cathedral, Venice has remained virtually unchanged for the past 600 years. Other must-see attractions include the Bridge of Sighs, the spectacular Peggy Guggenheim Collection (art gallery), the captivating Gallerie dell’Accademia (museum), and of course, gondola rides along the canals.

An unforgettable tour not to be missed! Discover Venice aboard a gondola! The best way to appreciate the beauty and uniqueness of a city built on water is on board a gondola. As you glide through the canals of Venice, you will discover the magnificent palaces, churches, bridges, gardens and warehouses that line the city's fluid streets as the sun sets and bathes all the sights in a magical light. Embarking is possible from one of the following gondola stations: Danieli, Dogana, or Vallaresso, Bauer. Ideal for photographers.
MEETING POINT BETWEEN THE TWO COLUMNS IN PIAZZA SAN MARCO Only for Tours after 6pm (from Nov - Mar) and after 7pm (from Apr - Oct) - For earlier tours please check other tour in system "Venice - Gondola Ride & Venetian Lagoon (Daytime)"

Beginning in Zurich and traveling south through Milan, Verona, and Venice, this journey moves from the precise and alpine to the ancient and aquatic in a series of transitions that each feel earned. The rail connections and private transfers do the work between destinations, which means you arrive in each city ready to engage with it rather than recovering from the journey.
In my experience, Verona tends to be underestimated on multi-city Italy itineraries. One night is the right allocation here given the broader scope of the trip, but it is worth arriving with genuine curiosity — the Roman Arena is in better condition than almost any comparable structure in Rome, and the old city is entirely walkable without a plan.
Hotel: Central Plaza Hotel Zurich
The day trip to Lucerne and Bürgenstock is the right use of your first full day in Switzerland. Lucerne is one of the most complete medieval lakeside towns in Europe, and the Bürgenstock ridge above it gives you an alpine panorama that orients the whole Swiss section of the trip. The guided walking tour and lake cruise in Zurich itself work well on the second day, with the Old Town lanes and the Kunsthaus filling the time well.
Hotel: NH Collection Milano President
The Lake Lugano and Lake Como excursion with a stop in Bellagio is the highlight of the Milan section, and worth prioritizing on your first full day when your energy is highest. The NH Collection Milano President is well-positioned near Porta Venezia, a short walk from the Duomo and close enough to the fashion district to make the city feel navigable.
Hotel: NH Collection Palazzo Verona
One night in Verona is a brief stay in a city that deserves more, but the NH Collection Palazzo Verona is a handsome base in the historic center, and the Roman Arena and Juliet's House can both be covered in a well-spent afternoon and evening. Skip the crowds at Juliet's balcony in the middle of the day — arriving in the early evening when most day-trippers have left makes for a considerably more agreeable experience.
Hotel: Hotel Palazzo Stern
Venice closes the trip well. The Hotel Palazzo Stern sits directly on the Grand Canal in Dorsoduro — one of the more residential neighborhoods in the city — and that position gives you a different daily experience than a hotel near San Marco would. The Murano, Burano, and Torcello island tour is a genuinely worthwhile half-day: Burano in particular, with its color-coded fishing houses reflected in still water, has a visual quality entirely its own. Take the gondola ride in the evening on the quieter canals east of San Marco rather than on the Grand Canal itself — the difference in atmosphere is worth requesting specifically.
