Routing via Windsor Castle and Stonehenge on the transfer from London to Bath turns the journey itself into part of the experience, and it's the private driver format earning its value. Stonehenge at opening before the coach groups and Windsor in the State Apartments before the afternoon tour wave, all within a single unhurried day. Punting in Oxford from Magdalen Bridge rather than the hire points near Christ Church puts you in the Cherwell backwater channels, with overhanging willows and Magdalen's deer park visible beyond the bank. For the Cotswolds, Bourton-on-the-Water before 10am is a completely different village from the midday version, and the private driver lets you arrive before any schedule forces you to leave.

Windsor Castle
Explore the rich history of Windsor Castle, the oldest and largest continuously occupied castle in the world. The beloved family home of Britain's monarchs for nearly a millennium, this iconic fortress has a royal legacy and cultural significance.
Today, Windsor Castle is one of the official residences of His Majesty the King and offers a captivating insight into the centuries-old royal heritage. Immerse yourself in the timeless charm and historic appeal of this extraordinary landmark, within whose majestic walls the pages of history unfold.
Windsor Castle and the State Apartments
The 10.5-hectare castle offers visitors a varied day trip, including a visit to the magnificent State Apartments and St. George's Chapel. The castle's state apartments feature some of the finest works from the royal collection, reflecting the changing tastes of the castle's royal residents, particularly those of Charles II and George IV.
The masterpieces on display include paintings by Holbein, Rubens and Van Dyck, Sèvres porcelain and fine English and French furniture. Many of the works of art are still in the historic locations for which they were originally collected or commissioned by the kings and queens who lived in Windsor.
Visitors can tour the castle on their own with a free multimedia tour. During the winter months, visitors can also tour the magnificent Semi-State Apartments*, which served as George IV's private apartments in the 19th century.
St. St. George's Chapel
Situated within the grounds of Windsor Castle, St. George's Chapel is one of the finest examples of Gothic architecture in England. Construction of the current chapel began in 1475 during the reign of Edward IV. When visiting, be sure to look up and admire the stone ceiling added by Henry VII.
The chapel has been the venue for many royal weddings, including TRH The Earl and Countess of Wessex, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex and HRH Princess Eugenie and Mr. Jack Brooksbank.
The chapel is the spiritual home of the Order of the Garter, Britain's highest order of chivalry, founded by Edward in 1348 III.
The chapel contains the tombs of 11 monarchs, including Queen Elizabeth II, George VI, Henry VIII and Charles I.
Changing of the Guard Ceremony
The Changing of the Guard Ceremony, a colorful spectacle that takes place on certain mornings, is a typically British spectacle with pomp and pageantry. At this ceremonial handover, guard duties are exchanged between two groups of the Household Division, one of Britain's finest military units.
The guards resplendent in their distinctive red tunics and bearskin hats in a spectacle that should definitely be on the agenda when visiting Windsor Castle.
Day 6
Cheltenham, a town steeped in history as a renowned spa destination, has attracted visitors seeking its healing springs since the 19th century. Having flourished as a fashionable health resort, it now presents an atmosphere of luxury, with elegant accommodations, a diverse culinary scene, and sophisticated shops. Admire the graceful Regency architecture that defines its leafy Promenade, charming squares, and elegant terraces. Whether you wish to immerse yourself in its vibrant festival scene, unwind in this historic haven, or use Cheltenham as a convenient base for exploring the Cotswolds, its cultural richness warmly invites discovery.

Day 7 - 8
Explore Oxford, a distinguished city in England celebrated globally for its prestigious university and captivating historical architecture. The University of Oxford, a venerable institution, defines the city's character with its stunning colleges, including the impressive Christ Church and Magdalen College. Within the university's walls, the Bodleian Library safeguards a remarkable collection of rare books and manuscripts. Discover other cultural gems such as Blackfriars Hall and the serene Oxford Botanic Garden. Beyond its academic renown, Oxford buzzes with a lively atmosphere, offering a diverse array of shops, restaurants, and engaging events. Immerse yourself in the intellectual and architectural beauty that makes Oxford a truly unique destination.

Meet your guide by the red pillar mailbox at 11–12 Broad Street (near Theo’s Café and the Oxford Campus Store) and explore the vibrant history of the world’s oldest English-speaking university. In just 90 minutes, walk through Oxford’s stunning colleges and historic streets.
Afterward, head to the boathouse for a relaxing punting tour. Glide past the Botanic Gardens, Christ Church Meadows — where Lewis Carroll found inspiration for Alice in Wonderland — and the beautiful gardens of St. Hilda’s College.

A private driver throughout changes the nature of this journey. Each leg becomes part of the experience rather than a gap between destinations — the Cotswold villages on the way from Bath to Cheltenham, the approach to Blenheim Palace across the park, the Oxford colleges on foot with a guide who knows the courtyards and quadrangles that a solo visitor would walk past. The cumulative effect across seven days is a version of England that is considerably more layered than any standard itinerary provides.
The punting experience on the River Cherwell in Oxford is one of those activities that sounds touristy and turns out to be genuinely enjoyable. What I always tell people: arrange a chauffeured punt rather than a self-hire one. It means you can look at the Backs, the willow trees, and the college gardens rather than managing the pole, and the difference is significant.
Hotel: The Cumberland Hotel Marble Arch
Three nights near Hyde Park with the guided walking tour, the evening Thames cruise with dinner, Westminster Abbey, the Tower of London, and Madame Tussauds across the stay. The Thames at dusk from a boat gives London a quality that no street-level view matches.
Hotel: Brooks Guesthouse
The private transfer via Windsor Castle and Stonehenge makes the journey from London to Bath more than a transit. Windsor Castle earns an hour on the route — the State Apartments and the castle's continuous occupation since the 11th century give it a weight that no other royal residence in England matches. Bath fills two days well: the Roman Baths, the Georgian architecture, and the city's own unhurried rhythm.
Hotel: The Greenway Hotel & Spa
The drive through the Cotswolds is the right way to arrive in Cheltenham from Bath, and Blenheim Palace and its park earn the stop. The Greenway Hotel and Spa is a Cotswold manor house in its own grounds — an evening there is a genuine change of pace from the city hotels on either side of it.
Hotel: The Randolph Hotel by Graduate Hotels
The Randolph on Beaumont Street is one of Oxford's most established addresses, directly opposite the Ashmolean Museum and a short walk from the main college quadrangles. The university walking tour, the punting on the Cherwell, and the colleges at their own unhurried pace give the final day a strong close.
May through September is the most popular season, with warm weather and long daylight hours. Spring and autumn offer pleasant conditions with fewer crowds, while winter is quieter but colder and wetter.
Travelers should budget around $1,200–$2,000 per person, depending on hotel choice, meals, and activities. London tends to be more expensive, while smaller towns and B&Bs help reduce costs.
Seven days is a balanced timeframe for combining London’s highlights with day trips to Bath, Stonehenge, Oxford, or the Cotswolds. While you won’t see the entire country, a week offers a strong mix of culture, history, and countryside.
Theatre evenings in London’s West End, punting in Oxford, visiting Roman Baths, or exploring the countryside on foot all fit nicely within a one-week trip.
Use trains to save time between major cities, avoid driving in central London, and book popular attractions in advance. Always pack layers and rain gear, as weather is unpredictable.
