The Nafplio and Mycenae day trip is the excursion that gives the Greek chapter its historical depth, and it's the one I'd always protect over a second Athens city day. The Lion Gate at Mycenae and the Venetian fortress above Nafplio's harbor read completely differently from anything in Athens, and that contrast is exactly what makes the Peloponnese detour worthwhile. Manchester's Northern Quarter and the People's History Museum offer a side of Britain that London-focused itineraries consistently skip; the industrial heritage and the music culture add real contrast before the pace shifts toward Greek island life. For Zakynthos, drive north early: the Shipwreck Beach viewpoint before the tourist boats leave the harbor is one of those images that makes the logistics worthwhile.

Manchester, a city that leaves a lasting impression, boasts a compelling industrial history, a vibrant cultural landscape, and an undeniable passion for football. Explore the Science and Industry Museum and the historic Castlefield Canal district to witness remnants of its industrial heyday. The city's cultural heart beats strongly through its theaters, concert venues like the Bridgewater Hall, and cultural hubs such as the HOME arts center. Famously home to the global football giants Manchester United and Manchester City, the lively and dedicated fan culture of the "Mancunians" is truly captivating. Beyond its history and culture, Manchester offers a diverse gastronomic scene and a distinctly modern atmosphere. It's a city that skillfully weaves together its rich past and dynamic present.

Day 6 - 8
Located in the Ionian Sea, the Greek island of Zakynthos is the third largest in the Ionian Archipelago, and, dubbed ‘The flower of the east', is known for its exquisite natural beauty, dramatic landscapes, and crystal-clear turquoise waters. Visitors can enjoy swimming and a variety of watersports at the beautiful beaches of Agios Nikolaos, Alykanas, and Tsilivi. Another undeniable highlight of the island is its infamous 1980 shipwreck, tucked away on the spectacular Navagio Beach, a picturesque and secluded cove encircled by impressive towering cliffs and only accessible by boat. Don’t miss the beautiful ‘Blue Caves’, cut into the cliffs at Cape Skinari. Spend a leisurely afternoon taking in a public concert at the enormous historic Solomos Square, or meander along the charming waterfront.

Day 9 - 11
Dominating the Attica region of Greece, the country’s capital, Athens, is one of the oldest cities in the world. For over two and a half centuries, the astonishing Greek temples and monuments of Athens have continued to intrigue and amaze visitors from around the world. This icon of western civilization seamlessly combines ancient history with modern architecture and a surprisingly lively atmosphere. This is particularly apparent in areas at the foot of the Acropolis, Anafiotika, Plaka, Monastiraki, and Thissio where visitors will find numerous extraordinary Neoclassical buildings, trendy and traditional cafes, and shops, and narrow winding streets with historical treasures at every turn. Once you have enjoyed a history and art fix, try some mouth-watering Greek cuisine at one of the city’s fine local restaurants before indulging in the insatiable nightlife at the chic cocktail bars and waterfront dance clubs.

We leave from Athens joining the coastal road until the first stop inthe Corinth Canal, a unique technical achievement of the 19thcentury, connecting the Ionian with the Aegean Sea (short stop). Thenwe drive to Mycenae, the citadel of one of the oldest prehistoricalcivilizations famous all around the world for the story of the TrojanWar. This is the place from where the Greeks had set off for theexpedition in Troy in order to get back beautiful Helene and where thegolden mask of Agamemnon was found. We will see the famous Lion’sGate, the monumental entrance, the Cyclopean Walls and the Treasury of Atreus, a monumental structurefor the burial of the King. Before we depart for Nafplio, we will have a lunch break qt Mycenae. The next destination is Nafplio, Napoli di Romania, one of the mostbeautiful cities in Greece. London and Manchester cover the British section before the flight south shifts the trip into something entirely different. After five days in English cities, landing on Zakynthos — with its turquoise bays, limestone cliffs, and the pace of a Greek island in full summer — produces a contrast that genuinely refreshes your attention before Athens closes the journey with ancient history at full scale.
Zakynthos tends to be underestimated on multi-city European itineraries. The beach at Navagio — accessible only by boat, enclosed by white cliffs, and carrying a rusting shipwreck half-buried in the sand — is one of the more extraordinary coastal settings in the Mediterranean, and the drive along the southern cape to the lighthouse at Keri gives you the Ionian Sea in both directions.
Hotel: H10 London Waterloo Hotel
Three nights with the Tower of London, Buckingham Palace, the London Eye, and the evening city cruise across the stay. The Thames at night from the water — the bridges lit, the South Bank alive, the dome of St. Paul's above the skyline — gives London a different quality than anything seen from street level.
Hotel: voco Manchester City Centre
Two nights with the city's cultural and industrial heritage across the two days. The Northern Quarter for an evening — independent restaurants, music venues, and bars that give you an honest read on how the city actually works — is the most rewarding part of Manchester for a short stay.
Hotel: Lesante Blu Exclusive Beach Resort
Three nights on the island with the beaches, the cliffside coastal drives, and the traditional villages filling the stay. The Navagio beach boat excursion earns a full morning — arriving early before the day-trip boats pile in from Kefalonia means the beach belongs almost entirely to you.
Hotel: Fresh Hotel
Two nights with the Acropolis and the surrounding ancient landmarks on the first day and the Nafplio and Mycenae day trip on the second. The drive to Nafplio and Mycenae is a full day and earns every kilometer — Mycenae's Lion Gate and shaft graves put you in front of Bronze Age Greece in a way that no museum fully replicates.
