The Verona day trip from Milan gives the Italian chapter its range. The Roman Arena, Via Mazzini, and the medieval piazzas each add a layer that Milan's cosmopolitan character doesn't provide on its own. For the Cotswolds, reach Bourton-on-the-Water before 10am; the coach traffic from London fills the main bridge by mid-morning and the village reads completely differently in that earlier hour. Pairing the Duomo visit with the Quadrilatero della Moda on the same Milan morning takes five minutes on foot and delivers one of the most compressed architectural contrasts anywhere in Europe.

Immerse yourself in world-class culture at the British Museum and the Tate Modern, offering endless artistic and historical treasures. The renowned West End theater scene promises unforgettable evenings, while the tranquil expanses of Hyde Park provide a welcome escape from the city's energy. Prepare your palate for a culinary journey; London's rich, multicultural atmosphere is vividly reflected in its diverse food scene, from traditional pubs offering hearty fare to esteemed gourmet restaurants awaiting your discovery. The Cotswolds feel like stepping into a landscape painting. Bold greens, lush waterways, and the most charming cottages. And Oxford needs no introduction. The city of students, spires, and magnificent cathedrals is as inspiring as it is fascinating. Join this tour and experience two of England’s most celebrated locations, well deserving of their fame.
Leaving London, you’ll head northwest, passing through the Chiltern Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The scenic countryside here has inspired the TV series Midsomer Murders and Vicar of Dibley.
Your first stop is Oxford, where you’ll have time to explore the grounds of the numerous colleges, climb the vantage points to admire the skyline, or view the art and antiquities collections at the Ashmolean Museum.
You’ll stop at Burford, the “Gateway to the Cotswolds.” This is a small market town with plenty of character and depth. The high street is lined with all the quaint houses you’ve always dreamed of owning. Here you’ll have time to soak up the charm and hospitality of the locals, and if you’re feeling peckish, you can sample a traditional English “Afternoon Tea.”
Then it’s on for the short journey to Bibury. This location was described by William Morris as the most beautiful village in England, and Henry Ford wanted to tear it down and ship it to the USA. Here you’ll have time for a stroll to the famous and fairytale-like Arlington Row.
After a full day exploring the city of Oxford and the villages of the Cotswolds, you’ll begin the comfortable return journey to London.

Day 4 - 7
The vibrant metropolis of Milan is the capital of Italy’s Lombardy region in northern Italy. Always at the forefront of international fashion, Milan’s sleek, glamorous facade has earned it a reputation for superficiality and excessive consumerism. However, beneath the surface lies a treasure trove of historical and architectural wonders—from its magnificent Gothic churches, Baroque mansions, and Art Nouveau palazzos to the striking modern skyscrapers of the Porta Nuova financial district. Must-see landmarks include the spectacular Milan Cathedral (Duomo), the glass-vaulted Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, and of course, La Scala—one of the world’s most renowned opera houses. Milan offers something for everyone: those in search of high-end designer shopping will be more than satisfied, as will visitors interested in fascinating historical sites and extraordinary architectural achievements.

London and Milan across six days — three nights each, a short flight connecting them. The Oxford and Cotswolds day trip gives the London section real range before the Italian section begins. The Lake Como and Verona combination from Milan gives Northern Italy's two strongest day-trip destinations each their proper time.
What I always tell people about the Verona day trip: the Roman Arena is better preserved than most of what you'll find in Rome, and the Piazza Bra in the late afternoon — with a table outside and the arena filling the view — is a strong way to close the day. Plan dinner there rather than rushing back to Milan.
Hotel: H10 London Waterloo Hotel
Three nights on the South Bank with Buckingham Palace, the Tower of London, the museums, and the Oxford and Cotswolds day trip across three days. The Cotswold villages are most rewarding when the organized tours have thinned in the late afternoon — ask your guide to time arrivals accordingly.
Hotel: NH Collection Milano President
The Lake Como full-day excursion and the Verona day trip fill two of the three days with genuine substance. The Duomo and the Quadrilatero della Moda reward the remaining day in the city. The Duomo's rooftop terrace — walkable, not just viewable — gives you the city's roofline and the distant Alps in a way the street level simply doesn't.
