Our last stop is Siena, which we will reach by driving through the lovely Chianti countryside. Upon arrival in Siena our local guide will take you on a guided walking tour along the small medieval streets and squares, passing the oldest bank in the world, and the Piazza del Campo - site of the famous 600-year-old Palio horse-race, to the spectacular Cathedral. What I always tell people about the Tuscany and Pisa excursion from Florence: treat it as a full day rather than a quick loop. The drive through the Chianti hills and the arrival in Pisa — the cathedral square opening up with the Duomo, the Baptistery, and the tower on the same piece of grass — earns the time on either side of the city visits.
Day 1–2: London

Two nights on the South Bank with the evening Thames cruise, the London Eye with fast-track entry, and time in Westminster, Covent Garden, and the surrounding areas. The Thames cruise on the first evening is the right opening — the city seen from the water before you've walked it on foot is the most effective introduction.
Day 3–4: Florence
Hotel: Tivoli Palazzo Gaddi Florence Hotel
Two nights with the Tuscany and Pisa excursion on one day and the historic center and local landmarks on the other. The Tivoli Palazzo Gaddi is close to the Arno, and the Oltrarno neighborhood outside the front door rewards any unplanned evening — the trattorie behind the Ponte Vecchio on the south side of the river are the most honestly priced in Florence.
Day 5–7: Athens
Hotel: The Athenian Callirhoe Exclusive Hotel
Two nights with the Acropolis walking tour and the surrounding historic sites on the first day and the Plaka and local neighborhoods on the second. The Athenian Callirhoe's rooftop view toward the Parthenon at dusk is worth using for a drink before dinner on the first evening — it orients you to the city in a way that no amount of walking quite does.
