While a city trip to the British capital is generally possible all year round, the summer months of June, July and August are considered the best time to visit London. At this time of year, you can experience London's countless sights and museums in mostly good weather. Enjoy moderate temperatures between 68 and 72° F. Benefit from comparatively little rain to make the most of the city's picturesque parks and outdoor activities.
Take a leisurely stroll through the beautiful Hyde Park or soak up the sun on a walk along the Thames. In keeping with the glorious weather, a visit to the spectacular Hampton Court Palace Garden Festival is also a good idea at this time of year. Or marvel at the skills of the athletes on the court at the world-famous Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Championships.

Despite the temperate London climate, the four seasons in the British capital are clearly recognizable. Winters are cool and damp with a maximum temperature of 46° F and the sun rarely shines. In contrast, summer in London attracts warm temperatures of up to 72° F, bright sunshine and little rain. Meanwhile, spring and fall offer mild temperatures, up to five hours of sunshine and occasional showers.

The weather in London improves noticeably as early as March. The sun appears more frequently again, the likelihood of rain decreases and temperatures rise. In June, you can already expect summery temperatures of around 68° F. A trip in spring is therefore ideal for a classic city trip as well as for a short break or a visit to a museum in this multifaceted metropolis. Last but not least, visitors can join in the celebrations on St. Patrick's Day, enjoy the London Borough of Culture or put their athletic skills to the test at the annual London Marathon.

Summer offers ideal conditions for an unforgettable city trip to London. Because both in June and July as well as in August and September there is plenty of sunshine, little rain and wonderful temperatures of up to 72° F. Perfect weather for exploring the spectacular metropolis on the Thames at your own pace. Whether you are interested in gastronomy, sports, history or culture - there is always something going on in London in summer.

While you can still expect sunny weather and pleasant temperatures of up to 66° F in September, the weather in London deteriorates significantly from October onwards. While the hours of sunshine and temperatures drop, rain showers become more frequent, so you should definitely pack suitable clothing. Nevertheless, a city trip to London at this time is a great way to explore Buckingham Palace on a guided tour or experience the fantastic Frieze art fairs in person.

Although temperatures in London during the winter months of December to March range from just 32 to 46° F, the British capital hardly ever experiences frost or snow. Instead, winters are characterized by heavy downpours and little sunshine, making a trip to London at this time of year particularly worthwhile for a museum visit or one of the city's countless indoor activities.
