Devon is a county in the south west of England and is rich in picturesque fishing villages and coastal towns that are often overlooked on the way to Cornwall. In summer, the area offers mainly white sandy beaches with a Caribbean feel.
One seaside resort follows the next, but the most beautiful of them all is Salcombe. This prime example of a typical British seaside resort will delight you with its three-armed estuary, sailing and marina and green hills. In the town center, you can browse through boutiques, eat fish & chips and visit the breathtaking Overbeck's Garden.
Visit the county of Somerset in the south of England and make a detour to the smallest cathedral city in England. Wells has just 10,000 inhabitants, but its Gothic church quarters dating back to the 12th century are sure to impress.
Wander through the historic archways, take photos through hydrangea hedges of old brick buildings and admire the main attraction - Wells Cathedral. The fan-vaulted ceilings, the Lady Chapel, the windows and the scissor arches supporting the central tower are unique. Nearby you can also visit the Wookey Hole stalactite caves, which are home to an underground lake.
Waterfalls, forests, a winding scenic road, English village charm and lots of cheese - Cheddar is probably the most idyllic and enjoyable area in England. Experience a drive or cliff walk through the impressive Cheddar Gorge - the largest gorge in the UK.
Visit Cheddar Village to sample real cheddar cheese at the Cheddar Gorge Cheese Company and learn more about the cave-aged specialties. In the other stores in the village you will find plenty of local products and souvenirs, and in addition to cheese you can also enjoy delicious meat, bread or fish.
The almost completely enclosed bay of Lulworth Cove is by far one of the most beautiful beaches in England. When the sun shines, the water here shimmers from green to turquoise to dark blue. Depending on the rainfall, the surrounding vegetation varies between green and brown - but the view is always stunning.
Sailing yachts cavort in the bay and the neighboring Durdle Door beach is also uniquely beautiful. Here, a staircase leads down to the beach, whose rock arch standing in the water is a real highlight. Spend the day by the sea and watch the sunset from here.
The Isles of Scilly, an archipelago off the coast of Cornwall, are renowned for their natural beauty with white sandy beaches, clear waters and subtropical climate. The five inhabited islands - St. Mary's, Tresco, St. Martin's, Bryher and St. Agnes - each offer a unique charm, from botanical gardens to palm-lined English lanes and quiet coves.
Popular for walking, birdwatching and sailing, the islands also have a rich history, which you can explore in places such as Hugh Town . Despite their remoteness, the islands are easily accessible by ferry, plane or helicopter and are particularly recommended in spring and summer.

I was born, grew up and spent most of my life in the South West of England. In my school vacations I often spent time in Dorset, Devon and Cornwall. I moved to Berlin five years ago and now get to experience the UK as a tourist when I visit my family two or three times a year.
I enjoy eating and drinking in my favorite pubs or relaxing somewhere in the countryside. The English pub culture and the stunning countryside are what I love most about the country and what keeps me coming back.
The Pony is one of the best pubs in the Bath and Bristol area. With its relaxed vibe, excellent cuisine, and glass-walled dining room offering panoramic views of the countryside, it’s a favorite among locals and travelers alike.
Just 20 minutes from Bristol Airport, it’s also the perfect lunch stop—especially if you have a late flight home.
In the Cotswolds, you’ll experience rural charm at its finest. The streets and cottages in this central English region feel straight out of a storybook. Think thatched roofs, flower gardens, and lavender fields.
Wander through the village of Hinington, visit historic castles in Chipping Campden, or explore the garden of St. Mary’s Church in Painswick, where the perfectly round-trimmed trees create a dreamlike setting. Upper Slaughter’s terraced houses look like they belong in a fairytale.
London may be home to more pubs than you could ever count—from cozy and traditional to stylish and modern. Whether you’re looking for a laid-back pint or a vibrant evening out, there’s a pub that fits your vibe.
Pro tip: If you’re planning to eat as well, search for “gastropub” on Google Maps. The oldest pubs might pour the best pints, but they don’t always serve the best food.
Whether you’re visiting Bristol for a day or staying longer, don’t miss your chance to spot original works by the elusive street artist Banksy. Near the SS Great Britain, you’ll find Girl with a Pierced Eardrum, and on Park Street, Well Hung Lover.
These iconic pieces offer a glimpse into the mind of one of the world’s most famous (and anonymous) artists—and they’re a must-see for anyone interested in street art or visual culture.
If you’re staying overnight in Falmouth or St. Mawes, take a water taxi to one of Cornwall’s most scenic coastal pubs: the Pandora Inn. Whether you’re dining inside by the fire or enjoying the waterfront terrace in summer, it’s a magical spot.
With fresh seafood, stunning views, and a relaxed atmosphere, the Pandora Inn is the perfect place to spend a sunny day by the sea.
One of the best ways to experience London’s cultural diversity is through its street food markets. From British pies and Scottish smoked salmon to Mexican tacos, Indian curry, and Caribbean jerk chicken—you’ll find flavors from around the world.
Top spots include Borough Market, Maltby Street Market, Portobello Road, and Broadway Market. And for something extra special, head to the Columbia Road Flower Market on Saturday mornings—it’s a feast for all the senses.
