Lisbon has a subtropical climate characterized by long, warm summers and mild winters. However, while there is hardly any rainfall in the summer months, it can rain again and again in the cooler months of the year. The months of June to September, with high temperatures of up to 82° F, are ideal for an unforgettable summer vacation. Spring and fall are also suitable times to visit Lisbon. This is because moderate temperatures and only the occasional shower create the ideal conditions for a fantastic city trip.

The Portuguese spring in Lisbon is characterized by pleasant temperatures between 61 and 75° F. After the rather rainy winter months, the probability of precipitation decreases significantly at this time of year and the sun appears more frequently again. These are ideal conditions for exploring the port city with all its sights and festivals on an extensive city trip. What's more, with a bit of luck you'll have the chance to discover Lisbon before the start of the main season without the usual tour groups.

During the summer months, visitors to Lisbon can expect plenty of sunshine and warm temperatures of up to 82° F. At the same time, the climate in the Portuguese capital is rather dry and regular winds from the Atlantic provide a pleasant breeze in the metropolis. And while the thermometer can climb above the 86° F mark, especially in August, the maximum water temperature of 66° F always provides refreshment. Last but not least, countless music festivals provide variety and entertainment during the high season.

Fall in Lisbon delights with wonderful temperatures between 61 and 81° F. However, the likelihood of rain increases significantly from October onwards, so you should be prepared for regular showers regardless of your travel plans. Take advantage of a trip in the fall to visit the unique documentary film festival in October or put your athletic skills to the test at the city's marathon. Or enjoy the fantastic holiday season in the picturesque coastal city.

Winter in Lisbon is mild and offers a relaxing atmosphere, with temperatures ranging between 48 and 61° F. Although it is the rainiest time of year, you can still expect plenty of sunshine to explore the city's historic neighborhoods. It is the perfect season to visit museums and monuments without the long lines, or to warm up with a "Galão" (coffee with milk) and a "Pastel de Nata" in one of the many cozy cafés. In December, the city also transforms into a sea of lights, making the holiday season a magical experience.
