Four nights in Rome is what lets this Italy and Portugal circuit breathe. With two nights you're rushing Vatican and Colosseum; with four, you have an afternoon free for Trastevere and Palatine Hill at sunset without cutting anything essential. The Chianti day sequences best as the last full Florence day before Venice; arriving in the Greve area through cypress-lined roads with a winery lunch means you carry that Tuscan energy into the canal city as a contrast rather than a memory already fading. For fado in Lisbon, a small house in Alfama over any larger waterfront venue; the acoustic difference and the proximity to the performers change the experience entirely.

Day 1 - 3
The beautiful city of Lisbon lies draped across a string of seven hills on the western Iberian Peninsula and is the westernmost and oldest city in western Europe. Its long and tumultuous history has resulted in an aesthetic characterised by a haphazard combination of old and new; however, the aesthetic chaos of Lisbon only adds to its appeal and its undeniable charm. Bright yellow centenarian trams rattle their way up steep, tree-lined, cobbled streets; ornate ironwork balconies overrun with bougainvillaea sit above elegant outdoor cafes housed in ancient whitewashed, red-roofed stone houses; and a flurry of detailed mosaics decorate the sidewalks. Ancient statues adorn grand squares and hidden gardens. A diverse culinary scene, a plethora of fascinating museums, and numerous castles make it easy to see why Lisbon is one of Europe’s most misunderstood and underrated cities.

Fado In Chiado offers an atmospheric 50-minute fado show in the heart of Lisbon. A female and a male voice perform stirring fado pieces, accompanied by traditional Portuguese and acoustic guitar. The performance impressively conveys the melancholic soul of Portugal in an authentic atmosphere. A cultural experience that music lovers should not miss.
Day 4 - 5
Located in northern Portugal along the Douro River estuary, the old sailing port of Porto is a World Heritage Site and the second-largest city in the country. While retaining the timeless charm of a small town, Porto also has many of the modern advantages of a metropolis. Browse the expansive art collection at the Soares dos Reis National Museum, view the ornate interior of the Church of Sao Francisco, and explore the medieval maze of stairways and terraces in the old quarter of Ribeira. Don’t miss the chance to visit the Vila Nova de Gaia area to sample some of Porto’s famous Port wine. Other popular attractions include the 12th-century Porto Cathedral, Clerigos Tower and the Harry-Potteresque Livraria Lello bookshop, showcasing some magnificent neo-gothic architecture.

Experience the melancholic sounds of traditional fado in an atmospheric venue in the heart of Porto. Let yourself be enchanted by the emotional music and enjoy a selection of exquisite Portuguese wines at an exclusive wine tasting. A perfect combination of culture and enjoyment!
Day 6 - 9
Experience Rome, the bustling capital of Italy. This city, rich with exciting history and culture, offers an unparalled mix of ancient explorations and modern living. Immerse yourself in the past and explore the Colosseum, the Roman Forum, and the Vatican. Wander through other must-see destinations like The Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, and Pantheon. Experiencing the culinary scene is a delight, from traditional pasta to world-renowned Italian gelati. You can explore daily markets such as Campo de' Fiori for local ingredients and fresh food. A stay in Rome promises great experiences all year round, but it is advisable to take seasonality into account. While spring (April–May) and fall (September–October) offer pleasant weather and less crowds, summer (June–August) has a lively, spirited atmosphere — but can also be hot. No matter when you go, visiting Rome promises an unforgettable journey through the centuries. The unique combination of a rich historical past mixed into a thriving and vibrant modern community makes Italy's Eternal City one of the world's most intriguing and inspiring tourist destinations.

Get ready to enter into the legend! Jump into Roman history and discover with an expert guide the "Anfiteatro Flavio", the Colosseum: the largest amphitheater not only in the Eternal City, but in the world! Wake up in the morning at your centrally located hotel and wait for our driver to come and pick you up. You’ll reach the Archeological area with no stress, ready to get the most complete tour of the Colosseum, Roman Forum and Palatine Hill. Accompanied by a professional guide who’ll provide you with a pocket audio receiver and earphones, you’ll have the chance to visit the Colosseum. The Flavian Amphitheater stood the test of time and stayed pretty much intact: you’ll get to know more about the way Romans used to enjoy their leisure hours while walking inside the original places where they used to watch gladiatorial or animal fights. You’ll reach the Palatine Hill, the place where Rome was founded more than 2772 years ago by the legendary twin brothers Romulus and Remus and you’ll stroll around the Roman Forum, the pulsating heart of ancient Roman life: let your guide tell you everything about those days and take you on a travel through time.

Day 10 - 12
Florence, the beautiful capital of the Italian region Tuscany, lies in the center of the country. A small city with a big heart, and an even bigger offering of artistic and historical treasures. For centuries, travelers have journeyed to the birthplace of the Renaissance era to marvel at the many masterpieces of architecture and art: Michelangelo's iconic David, the impressive works of Botticelli, the Uffizi Gallery (packed with works by Caravaggio and Da Vinci), and of course, Brunelleschi's remarkable dome — the religious centerpiece of Florence that dominates the skyline. All are absolute must-sees on any itinerary. Once you've ticked off these renowned attractions, you can take a stroll through the vast Boboli Gardens or climb the hill to the church of San Miniato al Monte for a breathtaking view of this beautiful, enchanting city.

Your memorable journey starts with the charming San Gimignano, world famous walled town located on a hilltop, which remained intact through the centuries, renowned for its tall towers, wonderful frescoes and many other valuable works of art: here the tour leader will lead you to the historical center, where you will have around 2 hours of free time for a fascinating discovery. A short distance from San Gimignano, crossing the gently Chianti rolling hills, a short ride will take you to a cozy Winery, where you can relax and enjoy the fantastic world of Chianti with its wine and typical products: tasting of three fine wines and balsamic vinegar followed by a Chianti style lunch: 3 course with “zero food miles” products which ends with "cantucci e vin santo". Later on, getting to Siena, you will have 3 hours of free time to end your perfect day enjoying the unique atmosphere of this amazing city, before the return to Florence in the evening.
Meeting point at 7:45 am Piazzale Montelungo at the end of the ramp connecting with the railway station.

Day 13 - 15
Venice is a small, unique city in Italy’s Veneto region, a historic center made up of 118 small islands in a lagoon of the Adriatic Sea, connected by a complex network of canals and footbridges. The stately palaces and ancient churches remain as fascinating reminders of what was once a major trading hub between Europe and the Orient. From the famous Gothic Doge’s Palace and the breathtaking St. Mark’s Basilica to the awe-inspiring brilliance of Titian’s Assumption altarpiece lighting up an entire cathedral, Venice has remained virtually unchanged for the past 600 years. Other must-see attractions include the Bridge of Sighs, the spectacular Peggy Guggenheim Collection (art gallery), the captivating Gallerie dell’Accademia (museum), and of course, gondola rides along the canals.

Lisbon and Porto open the trip with Portugal's two most distinctive cities, and then Rome, Florence, and Venice carry it through Italy north to the Adriatic. Four nights in Rome is the right call — the Colosseum and Roman Forum, the Vatican complex, and the neighborhoods and piazzas each deserve proper time without any of them being compressed.
What I always tell people about the Douro Valley cruise from Porto: go on a clear morning when the light on the terraced vineyards is at its best. The valley is one of the most visually compelling wine landscapes in the world, and the scale of the terracing only becomes clear from the water.
Hotel: Portugal Boutique City Hotel
Three nights with the Alfama and Belém neighborhoods, the fado evening in the Chiado, and the Sintra, Cabo da Roca, and Cascais day trip. The fado venues in the Alfama are best booked before you travel — the good ones fill up, especially on weekends.
Hotel: NEYA Porto
The Douro River cruise and the wine cellar tasting in Vila Nova de Gaia give two nights real substance. The lodge cellars across the Dom Luís I Bridge are best visited in the afternoon when they're cooler. The Ribeira district in the evening, when the restaurants fill up and the lights reflect off the river, is a strong way to close the Porto section.
Hotel: Grand Hotel Palace Rome
Four nights gives you the Colosseum and Roman Forum on one morning, the Vatican complex on another, and time left to walk the Palatine Hill and the neighborhoods around Campo de' Fiori and Trastevere without any of it feeling rushed.
Hotel: Tivoli Palazzo Gaddi Florence Hotel
Three nights with the main gallery visits, the Siena, San Gimignano, and Chianti day trip, and the walking tour in sequence. The Tuscany day trip is the highlight — the drive through the Chianti hills and the medieval towns on the ridgelines is the experience that tends to stay with people longest.
Hotel: Avani Rio Novo Venice Hotel
Two nights covers St. Mark's Square, the Murano and Burano excursion, and the canals in the evening. The Avani Rio Novo sits on a canal in the western city, which puts you in a residential area and gives a different daily experience from a hotel near the main tourist circuit. Burano's color-coded fishing houses reflected in still water have a visual quality entirely their own.

Very friendly and knowledgeable advisor
Top travel company—we’d book again anytime. My travel consultant was very friendly: I shared what we had in mind, and she planned the trip for us. She was also able to make adjustments when something didn’t quite fit—everything went perfectly. Afterwards, customer service took care of us and was quick to help. The trip itself was a dream. It’s also worth mentioning that we had a local guide we could message with any questions. Excellent support, and the Tourlane app was perfect—everything we needed right at hand on our phone. Many thanks to everyone who supported us on this trip.
She listened carefully to all my wishes and ideas, gave me excellent advice, and made everything happen. All my questions were answered, and I feel very well taken care of. Thank you so much!
