The Douro Valley full day from Porto works best on the south bank road through Peso da Régua to Pinhão rather than the northern motorway: the N108 delivers the terraced vineyard scenery in its most concentrated form, and a sit-down tasting at a quinta with the valley below gives the port wine culture a geographic foundation no Vila Nova de Gaia cellar visit provides. The White Villages and Ronda excursion from Seville is where the Andalusian chapter finds its landscape; the approach to Ronda across the limestone plateau and the Tajo gorge from the Puente Nuevo are images no city walking tour can replicate. Five nights in Rethymno gives Crete the time it actually needs: the jeep safari into the Amari Valley, the Venetian harbor, and the beaches each require a separate day, and the two-night version of this chapter always leaves something unfinished.

Day 1 - 3
Located in northern Portugal along the Douro River estuary, the old sailing port of Porto is a World Heritage Site and the second-largest city in the country. While retaining the timeless charm of a small town, Porto also has many of the modern advantages of a metropolis. Browse the expansive art collection at the Soares dos Reis National Museum, view the ornate interior of the Church of Sao Francisco, and explore the medieval maze of stairways and terraces in the old quarter of Ribeira. Don’t miss the chance to visit the Vila Nova de Gaia area to sample some of Porto’s famous Port wine. Other popular attractions include the 12th-century Porto Cathedral, Clerigos Tower and the Harry-Potteresque Livraria Lello bookshop, showcasing some magnificent neo-gothic architecture.

The Douro region needs no introduction. But it does need to be seen. It's the only way you will believe the words used to describe its beauty. Mountains, rivers, traditions, faith, culture... The area that lines the Douro River is all this and much more. So much more that there are not enough words, or the right ones, to describe it. Discover this glorious region with us, where you will be have the chance to see monuments such as the St. Gonçalo Monastery, in Amarante, and the Galafura viewpoint where you will have a privileged view over the Douro river and the surrounding landscape. You’ll also have time for a Porto Wine tasting at one of the region’s most famous Estates.

Afterwards, your official guide will take you to Ronda – one of the oldest cities in Spain. The walking tour begins in the 19th-century Alameda del Tajo gardens, offering impressive panoramic views.
You’ll see the iconic Puente Nuevo bridge, which connects Ronda’s old and new towns, as well as the Puente Viejo, Felipe V Bridge, and San Miguel Bridge. The journey continues through the Sierra de Cádiz and the famous “White Villages.”
A highlight is the stop in Zahara de la Sierra, where you’ll admire the Moorish watchtower (Torre del Homenaje) and stunning views over the Sierra de Grazalema Natural Park – Andalusia’s first protected area, known for its dramatic limestone landscapes, deep gorges, caves, and rare pine forests. The tour ends with a return trip to Seville.
Day 7 - 9
Valencia, a seaside city bursting with energy, offers an unbeatable mix of old-world charm and futuristic architecture. Home to the legendary paella, Valencia invites you to revel in its culinary delights, from the bustling stalls of the Mercado Central to the flavors of the local tapas bars. As you wander through the historic streets, discover the awe-inspiring Valencia Cathedral and the silk exchange, a UNESCO World Heritage site.
The City of Arts and Sciences, an architectural marvel, showcases Valencia’s modern edge with interactive exhibitions and a stunning oceanographic park. Whether you’re lounging on the golden sands of Malvarrosa Beach or losing yourself in the Fallas celebrations, Valencia promises a vibrant and diverse experience that captures the essence of Spain.

There’s truly no place like it: vast, gritty, and chaotic, yet this modern-day energy plays out against a dramatic backdrop of grand historical piazzas, world-class museums, and stunning Baroque architecture. As the birthplace of pizza and a contender for the richest food scene in a country celebrated for its cuisine, Naples is a paradise for food lovers, offering a dazzling array of local dishes and gourmet experiences.

Porto to Seville to Valencia, then Naples and Sorrento before closing five nights in Rethymno on Crete — twenty-one days that follow the northern Mediterranean coastline from the Atlantic edge of Portugal to the Ionian Sea, touching Iberia, southern Italy, and the eastern Mediterranean in a sequence that makes geographic sense. The trip deepens as it moves east: Porto is cosmopolitan and wine-saturated, Seville is Moorish and theatrical, Valencia is beach-facing and architecturally inventive, Naples is raw and volcanic, and Crete is where the journey finally slows down.
What I appreciate most about Rethymno as a five-night closing stop: the jeep safari into the Cretan interior, the wine and olive experiences, and the Venetian harbor and old town together give Crete a depth that a shorter island stop never achieves. The mountain villages above the Amari Basin, the olive groves, and the wineries in the hills reveal an island that the coastal tourist circuit doesn't show.
Hotel: TURIM Oporto Hotel
Three nights with the full-day Douro Valley experience, the city tour, and time in the Ribeira district and wine cellars. The Douro Valley earns its own full day — the terraced vineyards on the valley walls, best seen from the water rather than the road, give Portugal's wine landscape its proper scale.
Hotel: Casa Romana Hotel Boutique
Three nights in the Santa Cruz quarter with the historic neighborhoods, the White Villages and Ronda excursion, and the ham, cheese, and wine tasting. Ronda above the El Tajo gorge has a physical drama that no city visit can replicate — give it the full day rather than squeezing it into a half.
Hotel: Silken Puerta Valencia
Three nights with the historic quarters, the City of Arts and Sciences, the local cuisine and coastal atmosphere. Valencia's paella — cooked with local rice, saffron, and freshwater ingredients in the city that invented it — is a serious culinary tradition that earns at least one dedicated lunch rather than a restaurant approximation.
Hotel: Palazzo Turchini
Two nights with the Pompeii and Vesuvius guided experience and time in the historic center and local food scene. Pompeii with a guide gives the site a narrative coherence that solo exploration can't provide — the forum, the baths, the Villa of the Mysteries — and Vesuvius above it on the same day gives the volcanic context a physical reality that the ruins alone suggest but don't fully convey.
Hotel: Hotel La Tonnarella
Four nights on the cliffs above the Bay of Naples with the Capri boat excursion, the Positano and Amalfi coastal exploration, and time to relax. The Hotel La Tonnarella has a lift down to its private platform on the water, and the bay views toward Vesuvius from the terrace make the context of everything around it immediately legible.
Hotel: Grecotel Plaza Beach House
Five nights with the old town and Venetian harbor, the jeep safari through the inland villages and wineries, the wine and olive tasting, and the beaches across the stay. The Grecotel Plaza Beach House gives immediate beach access and easy proximity to the old town — the right combination for five nights that need both.
The best time to visit these countries is generally in the shoulder seasons of spring and fall. The months from April to October offer warm and sunny weather, making it a great time for beach vacations and outdoor activities. Summer is the peak season, especially in Southern Europe, and can be very hot with more crowds.

Very friendly and knowledgeable advisor
Top travel company—we’d book again anytime. My travel consultant was very friendly: I shared what we had in mind, and she planned the trip for us. She was also able to make adjustments when something didn’t quite fit—everything went perfectly. Afterwards, customer service took care of us and was quick to help. The trip itself was a dream. It’s also worth mentioning that we had a local guide we could message with any questions. Excellent support, and the Tourlane app was perfect—everything we needed right at hand on our phone. Many thanks to everyone who supported us on this trip.
She listened carefully to all my wishes and ideas, gave me excellent advice, and made everything happen. All my questions were answered, and I feel very well taken care of. Thank you so much!
