Due to its location off the coast of Africa, Fuerteventura has a pleasant climate all year round with temperatures between 68 and 86° F. The best time to visit Fuerteventura therefore depends on individual preferences. As the island is primarily known for its long sandy beaches and crystal-clear water, many visitors spend their beach vacation here between June and September. However, the island is particularly busy during the vacation season between July and August.
If you want to avoid this peak period, it is better to travel to the island before or after and take advantage of the warm weather in spring or fall. Fuerteventura is also a popular destination for surfers, windsurfers and kiters. However, the best time to travel for surfing and windsurfing is from October to April, when strong winds and high waves provide ideal surfing conditions.

Fuerteventura has a subtropical desert climate, which is characterized by mild temperatures, low rainfall and high hours of sunshine. The average temperature is between 79° F and 86° F, and even in winter it remains pleasantly mild at between 68° F and 77° F. Compared to the other Canary Islands, Fuerteventura is somewhat warmer and drier in summer and the trade winds are stronger in winter.

The peak season on Fuerteventura is in summer between June and September, but especially in July and August, when the school vacations in Europe take place. This is when many families come to the Canary Islands to spend their vacation on the beaches. During this time, prices for accommodation and activities are generally higher and the beaches and tourist attractions are busier than outside the vacation season.

The low season on Fuerteventura is in winter between December and March. During this time, prices for accommodation and activities are generally lower and there are fewer tourists on the island. Temperatures still remain mild and there are still plenty of hours of sunshine, so you can still explore the island in winter and head out for activities such as hiking and surfing. In winter, the trade winds sweep across the island, providing good surfing conditions.

The low season on Fuerteventura is in spring between April and May and in fall between October and November. During this time, the temperatures are pleasant, but there are fewer tourists and lower prices for accommodation and activities than in the high season during the summer vacations. The island can now be explored on excursions and activities such as hiking and cycling are easy to do. The sun and mild temperatures also attract visitors to the beaches before it gets too crowded in summer.

As it can get quite hot on Fuerteventura in summer, the best time to go hiking is between October and May, when the temperatures are a little cooler. Although there can be occasional rain and windy weather conditions in winter, with a bit of luck there are plenty of nice days. However, the right equipment is advisable. In spring and fall, the temperatures are pleasantly mild and there are many hours of sunshine. These are ideal conditions for hiking on the island.

In summer, it can get quite hot on Fuerteventura, even compared to the other Canary Islands. If you want to do sports, you should therefore travel to the island outside the height of summer. In winter, on the other hand, it is sometimes windy and there is precipitation, although the weather remains mild. The best time to play golf on Fuerteventura is therefore in spring and fall, when it is not too hot, but dry and not windy.

Winter on Fuerteventura can be wet and windy. For this reason, underwater visibility is poorer in winter than in summer. Even though the water is quite warm all year round, summer is considered the best time to go diving on Fuerteventura. This is when the water is calm and visibility is clear.

The best time to go surfing and windsurfing on Fuerteventura is between October and April. Particularly in winter, special conditions ensure high waves and therefore ideal conditions on the board. The weather is so warm even in winter that you can usually do without wetsuits.
