White Villages and Ronda is the excursion that gives the Andalusia chapter its geographic range: the Tajo gorge from the Puente Nuevo is something no city walking tour replicates, and the drive back through Arcos de la Frontera in late afternoon adds a second architectural componenent for free. For flamenco in Seville, a twenty-seat tablao in a Santa Cruz courtyard is categorically different from a large tourist stage; the intimacy is the point. Pollensa's Calvari staircase before the midday heat: 365 cypress-lined steps and the chapel view over the Tramuntana is the image northern Mallorca holds back until you make the climb.

Day 1 - 3
Spain’s enormous central capital, Madrid, lies on the River Manzanares and is a city of contrasts. Historical monuments like the impressive Royal Palace stand in stark contrast to state-of-the-art skyscrapers; masterpieces by Picasso, Dali and Velazquez adorn the walls of the city’s world-class galleries alongside contemporary modern works; local chefs display a passion for Spanish food at traditional eateries while chic fusion restaurants operate next door. Madrid’s real attraction lies in the seductive lifestyle of its hedonistic inhabitants; indulging in tapas, hunting for treasures at the El Rastro flea market or partying the night away in one of the many lively nightclubs. Make sure to soak up the vibrant street life of the grand, historic Plaza Mayor, Madrid's central square, and spend a leisurely afternoon on the landscaped lawns at the Parque del Buen Retiro.

Day 4 - 5
Resting on the exquisite Costa del Sol in the south of Spain, Malaga is a bustling port city known for its yellow-sand beaches lined with luxury high-rise hotels and resorts. For many visitors, Malaga is simply a gateway to the beach resorts of the Costa del Sol, but those who linger will find a cosmopolitan cultural hub complete with a thriving art scene, a slew of fascinating museums and an endless array of culinary delights. Presiding over the city’s modern skyline are two enormous ancient hilltop citadels, the ruined Gibralfaro and the 11th-century Moorish palace of Alcazaba, which holds several ancient artefacts. Other must-see sights include an impressive Renaissance Cathedral, the beautiful remains of an old Roman theatre, and La Conception Botanical and Historical Garden, offering lovely panoramic views of the city below.

Day 6 - 8
Welcome to Seville, the passionate heart of Andalusia, a city that effortlessly blends rich history with vibrant modern life! This enchanting capital is truly famous for its fiery flamenco dancing, where passion ignites on every stage, its delectable tapas culture that invites endless culinary exploration, and its magnificent Moorish architecture that speaks volumes of its diverse past.
You can expect to be transported back in time as you explore the grand Seville Cathedral, home to Christopher Columbus's tomb and its iconic Giralda tower, offering breathtaking views of the city. Wander through the ethereal beauty of the Royal Alcázar palace and its serene gardens, a UNESCO World Heritage site, marveling at the intricate tilework and tranquil courtyards. Then, soak in the grandeur of the expansive Plaza de España, a stunning architectural masterpiece.
Seville's warm, inviting charm and its deep, palpable history make it an inspiring and utterly unforgettable destination. Don't miss the chance to experience a traditional flamenco show in the Triana neighborhood or enjoy an evening stroll along the Guadalquivir River – it’s a city that truly lives and breathes its heritage.

Casa Romana Hotel Boutique invites you to indulge in luxury and charm in the heart of Seville. Located in the historic city center, this elegant hotel offers a unique blend of traditional Andalusian architecture and modern amenities, making it an ideal base for exploring the rich cultural heritage of Seville.
Your room at Casa Romana Hotel Boutique is designed to offer both comfort and sophistication, featuring stylish decor and a range of premium amenities. Enjoy complimentary Wi-Fi, a flat-screen TV, and plush bedding to ensure a restful and enjoyable stay. Many rooms open onto lovely courtyards, creating a serene and intimate atmosphere.
Start your day with a sumptuous breakfast featuring a selection of fresh, local products. After exploring Seville’s iconic attractions, such as the Seville Cathedral and the Alcázar, unwind with a cocktail at the hotel’s rooftop terrace bar, which offers stunning views of the city skyline.

Enjoy a relaxing 1-hour boat cruise on the Guadalquivir River through Seville. On board, explore around 50 city landmarks with a multilingual audio guide—including the Torre del Oro, the bullring, San Telmo Palace, the Triana Bridge, the buildings from the 1929 Ibero-American Exposition, the Expo site on Isla de la Cartuja, and the modern Torre Sevilla. At the end, see the historic departure points of famous explorers like Columbus and Magellan. Daily departures every hour from the Torre del Oro.
Day 9 - 10
Córdoba is an impressive city in southern Spain, known for its rich history and cultural diversity. Once the center of Moorish Al-Andalus, it uniquely blends Roman, Islamic, Jewish, and Christian heritage. The heart of the city is the world-famous Mezquita, a former mosque later converted into a cathedral – a fascinating symbol of cultural fusion. Narrow alleys, flower-filled courtyards, and a vibrant old town make Córdoba an unforgettable destination.

Flamenco — an electrifying blend of dance, song, and guitar — is the very soul of Spain. Born from the rich fusion of Arab, Jewish, and Gypsy traditions, this art form has captivated legends like Ava Gardner and Ernest Hemingway.
Now it’s your turn to experience the raw emotion and power of authentic flamenco in one of Córdoba’s most iconic venues. With every step, strum, and cry, the performers pour their hearts into a show that is as unforgettable as it is passionate.
Choose to enjoy the performance with a complimentary drink or elevate the evening with a set-menu dinner for a full cultural experience.
Day 11 - 12
The small historical city of Granada lies tucked in a crook of the snow-capped Sierra Nevada, with the River Darro flowing through its centre, in southern Spain’s Andalucia region. The world-renowned and extraordinarily well-preserved Moorish Alhambra, with its mysterious, reddish-gold, fortressed palaces and exotic gardens, presides over the city. On an adjacent hill, the Albaicin quarter consists of a warren of narrow, cobbled alleyways strewn with whitewashed houses, tiny hidden squares adorned with orange trees and fountains, traditional bars serving free tapas, and a growing number of gourmet restaurants. The third hill, Sacromonte, once a Gypsy enclave, is packed with fascinating cave dwellings hosting nightly flamenco dance performances. The city centre has a more elegant, contemporary feel with its upmarket boutiques, art nouveau flower stalls and large decorative fountains.

Alhambra is a palace and a fortress complex. One of the Wonders of the World and UNESCO world heritage listed. You will discover a unique Arab medieval citadel, probably the best preserved in the world, and also the highest tourist attraction in Spain. During this visit you will be accompanied by an official guide who will explain the history and legends of this emblematic place. You will visit the Alcazaba (citadel), Carlos V Palace, Generalife Gardens and Nazari Palaces. The Alcazaba was the military zone, The Generalife is the villa with gardens used by the Muslim kings of Granada as a place of retreat and rest and the Nazari palaces constituted the seat of the administrative functions, of the court, protocol and retirement and private enjoyment.
Day 13 - 14
Set on Spain’s gorgeous southeastern coast, the capital and largest city of the Catalonia region, Barcelona, is an exquisite, seaside metropolis. With its dizzying array of architecture and its world-class galleries and museums, artistic delights abound at every corner (most strikingly in the astonishingly whimsical structures designed by the prolific modernist architect Antoni Gaudi). Explore the winding alleys of the picturesque Gothic Quarter, take in the boisterous carnival atmosphere of the world famous, tree-lined La Rambla boulevard, or go on a gastronomical adventure through the city's restaurants. Head to one of the gorgeous white sandy beaches and when the sun sets, join the eclectic all-night party scene. Don’t miss the opportunity to see the phenomenal Sagrada Familia, take in an opera at the sublime Palau de la Musica Catalana, and watch a game at the famous Camp Nou stadium.

Day 15 - 21
Nestled on the foothills of the Serra de Tramuntana mountain range in southwest Majorca and a quick 15-minute drive from Palma, Calvia is a captivating destination known for its rich heritage while offering a quintessential seaside holiday experience. Settlement in the area goes back around 2000 years, while the historic village at the town’s centre - founded in 1249 - provides days of discovery. With its traditional ochre houses, ancient architecture and swaying almond trees, the atmosphere alone is reason enough to visit. Take a short walk to some of the finest beaches on the island, stunning golf courses, adventure parks and an array of watersports opportunities. Nature-lovers should spend a day exploring the glorious hiking and cycling routes in the Serra de Tramuntana mountain range.

This varied island tour takes you to one of Mallorca's traditional and charming weekly markets - depending on the day of the week, for example on Wednesdays in Sineu or Sundays in Alcúdia or Pollensa. Amidst colorful market stalls and regional specialties, you will experience authentic island life up close.
The journey then continues to the picturesque north of Mallorca to the idyllic port of Puerto de Pollensa. From there, depending on the weather, you have the option of taking a short boat trip to Formentor. This beautiful sandy beach with its crystal-clear water and impressive coastline is considered one of the most beautiful bays on the island. (Boat trips available from April to October.)
On the way back, another highlight awaits you: a stop at the famous viewpoint “Mirador d'Es Colomer”, if conditions permit. From here you can enjoy a spectacular panoramic view over the sea and the rugged north coast - a perfect moment to pause and take photos.
A visit to one of the typical markets is an integral part of this tour and rounds off the authentic Mallorca experience.

Three weeks in Spain with this routing — Madrid south to Malaga and Seville, east through Cordoba and Granada, north to Barcelona, then the flight to Mallorca — covers the country without repeating the same experience twice. Andalusia and the Mediterranean coast are as different from each other as the cities within each region are from one another, and that contrast is what makes a longer Spain trip feel like genuine discovery rather than a checklist.
Six nights in Mallorca at the close is the right proportion for this length of trip. After two weeks of historic cities, the island's coastal drives, catamaran cruise, and the old town of Pollensa offer a genuinely different atmosphere that the journey has earned by that point.
Hotel: Vincci Soho
The Vincci Soho sits in the Barrio de las Letras, close to the Prado and the Reina Sofía and well-placed for the tapas bars on Calle Cava Baja in the evening. Dedicate the first full day to the Royal Palace and Retiro Park, and the second to the Prado — it deserves more time than most visitors give it. The permanent collection alone rewards an unhurried morning.
Hotel: Petit Palace Plaza Málaga
Two nights in Malaga sits well between the formality of Madrid and the deeper cultural immersion of Seville ahead. The Picasso Museum is a strong half-day, and the Muelle Uno promenade is the right place for a slow evening before continuing south.
Hotel: Casa Romana Hotel Boutique
The Casa Romana Hotel Boutique is in the Santa Cruz quarter, which puts the Cathedral, the Alcázar, and the tapas bars all within a short walk. The White Villages and Ronda day trip is the highlight of this section — Ronda above the El Tajo gorge has a physical drama that no city visit can replicate. Book the flamenco show in a private patio rather than a large theater; the intimacy changes the experience entirely.
Hotel: H10 Palacio Colomera
The Mezquita is one of the most extraordinary interior spaces in Europe — a forest of red and white striped arches that rewards a long, unhurried visit. What I always tell people: arrive when it opens and walk the full perimeter before working back toward the center. The guided Mosque and Synagogue walking tour puts both sites into a context that solo exploration can't fully provide.
Hotel: Sercotel Palacio de los Gamboa
Two nights in Granada with the Alhambra and Generalife on one day and the Albaicín district on the other is the right balance. The Alhambra entry slots are timed and capacity-controlled — book them before you leave home, not when you arrive. The Albaicín at dusk, walking up toward the Mirador de San Nicolás for the view back across to the Alhambra, is one of those travel moments that delivers exactly what it promises.
Hotel: H10 Casanova
Two nights in Barcelona means keeping things focused. The Gaudí landmarks and the Gothic Quarter on one day, with time for the Barceloneta waterfront and an evening in the Eixample on the other. The H10 Casanova is in the Eixample, close to Passeig de Gràcia and well-placed for both the Sagrada Familia and the neighborhood's restaurant scene.
Hotel: Hotel ROC Illetas & SPA
Six nights in Calvia with the Hotel ROC Illetas gives you a bay-facing base on the southwestern coast with easy access to Palma. The catamaran cruise in the Bay of Palma is a strong second-day activity. Save the day trip to Pollensa for later in the week — the old town, the Calvari steps, and the Sunday market are considerably more rewarding when you've had a few days of coastal decompression behind you.
The best time to travel to Spain for an extended trip is during the spring (May–June) and fall (September–October). These seasons offer warm and dry weather, perfect for exploring a diverse range of regions from Madrid to Mallorca, while avoiding the intense heat and crowds of the peak summer months.
A 3-week trip to Spain can be tailored to various budgets. The average cost for a week-long trip, excluding flights, is about $1,400 per person. For a mid-range travel style, you can budget around $2,800 for two weeks, and extrapolate from there for three weeks. A budget-friendly trip starts at approximately $80 per day.
A 3-week trip allows you to experience Spain's cultural depth and regional flavors. Highlights include the royal palaces of Madrid, the Moorish heritage of Granada, and the architectural wonders of Barcelona. For activities, you can attend a flamenco show in Seville or take a paella cooking class in Barcelona.
