Naples as the final night rather than a second Sorrento base is the call that makes the southern chapter land properly: the city tour after Pompeii, with Vesuvius still in your sightline, gives the ancient city's destruction a physical context that arriving fresh from Rome never provides. Vatican Museums before 8am with the Sistine Chapel last; in those first twenty minutes the ceiling is close to empty and what it sets up carries through everything else on the Rome schedule. For Venice, book the gondola serenade in a narrow canal east of the Rialto: kitchen sounds from open windows, compressed evening light, no vaporetto wash. A city the afternoon tourist circuit never reaches.

Immerse yourself in the past and explore the Colosseum, the Roman Forum, and the Vatican. Wander through other must-see destinations like The Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, and Pantheon. Experiencing the culinary scene is a delight, from traditional pasta to world-renowned Italian gelati. You can explore daily markets such as Campo de' Fiori for local ingredients and fresh food. A stay in Rome promises great experiences all year round, but it is advisable to take seasonality into account. While spring (April–May) and fall (September–October) offer pleasant weather and less crowds, summer (June–August) has a lively, spirited atmosphere — but can also be hot. No matter when you go, visiting Rome promises an unforgettable journey through the centuries. The unique combination of a rich historical past mixed into a thriving and vibrant modern community makes Italy's Eternal City one of the world's most intriguing and inspiring tourist destinations.

The tour wouldn’t be complete without a walk in St. Peter’s Square, the open space before the basilica, redesigned by G. L. Bernini, an architectural masterpiece of the Baroque age. Your day continues with a visit of Castel Sant’Angelo, originally built as the tomb of Roman Emperor Hadrian, was later converted into a military fortress, the Pope’s residence, a Renaissance-era prison, and then finally into a museum to preserve the history of Rome. Venice to Florence to Rome, then south to Sorrento and Naples — the high-speed trains carry you down the spine of Italy, and the landscape shifts from the aquatic to the ancient to the volcanic in a way that makes each stop feel sharper for the contrast with what came before it. Arriving in Naples on the final day, with the bay and Vesuvius in front of you, makes sense only because of everything you've moved through to get there.
A detail I always pass along for the Siena and San Gimignano day trip from Florence: the approach into San Gimignano from the south, with the medieval towers rising on the ridge above the Val d'Elsa, is one of those arrival moments that earns the whole excursion. Ask your driver to take that road if you're coming from Siena rather than directly from Florence.
Hotel: Hotel Palazzo Stern
The Hotel Palazzo Stern is on the Grand Canal in Dorsoduro — a residential neighborhood that gives you a different daily texture than San Marco would. The historical walking tour and the gondola serenade cover the main ground, and the gondola is best requested for the back canals east of the Rialto, where the water is quieter and the atmosphere more intimate.
Hotel: B&B Hotel Firenze Pitti Palace al Ponte Vecchio
The high-speed train from Venice takes just over two hours and drops you at Santa Maria Novella, a short walk from the Oltrarno neighborhood where the hotel sits. The walking tour with the Uffizi Gallery visit and the day trip to Siena and San Gimignano together give two nights in Florence genuine substance.
Hotel: Hotel Trevi
The Hotel Trevi is in the historic center, close to the Trevi Fountain and a short walk from the Pantheon. Two nights is compact for Rome, so keeping the focus on the Vatican and Castel Sant'Angelo as one full-day experience is the right call. The Castel Sant'Angelo is often treated as secondary to the Vatican, but the views from the top across the Tiber and back toward St. Peter's are among the best in the city.
Hotel: Hotel Antiche Mura
The private transfer from Rome to Sorrento takes around three hours, and the Hotel Antiche Mura sits in the gardens above the town center — a quieter position than the cliff-edge hotels, with easy access to the port. The full-day Capri excursion with Anacapri is the right use of one full day here: Anacapri, up on the quieter high ground of the island, is a world away from the port crowds below.
Hotel: Palazzo Turchini
One night in Naples is primarily a closing experience and a practical positioning for departure. The Palazzo Turchini is a well-restored 18th-century building close to the waterfront. The guided city tour gives you the Spaccanapoli, the historic center, and an honest read on a city that most travelers pass through too quickly to understand.

Italy trip
We are once again very satisfied with Tourlane and the collaboration with Ms. Calabrese. She provided me with detailed information and prepared and organized the Italy trip excellently. Happy to book again 😊
It was a very nice trip and overall we are very satisfied. The Tourlane navigation could be a bit more precise. All the hotels were very good 👍 It was a wonderful time that we would happily repeat again and again.
We were interested in a round trip through Italy and shortly after our inquiry we already received an appointment for a consultation. The conversation with our Italy expert, Lara Schmidt, was simply great. She not only took all our wishes into account, but also rightly advised against one or two locations because of the weather/season. Shortly afterwards we received our offer (route, hotels, rental car), and what can we say — we got a perfectly arranged trip that really included and even exceeded all our wishes. That’s why we confirmed the trip with Lara directly in the next call and are super excited. @Lara: A BIG THANK YOU for the great exchange — you do this with so much heart and en...
Lara has organized my IT Trip for summer with my family. She had some many great ideas and provided so much information about the different regions. I´m really looking forward! Thank you Lara :-)
