The Paxos and Antipaxos boat excursion is the experience that defines the Corfu chapter. Antipaxos's turquoise water and white-pebble coves are among the clearest in Greece, and the sea caves between the two islands reach a scale that only registers from the water. Four nights in Athens with both the Meteora full day and the Peloponnese circuit gives each excursion the time it needs; Epidaurus and Mycenae belong on the same day, but Meteora needs its own morning light and its own afternoon. Book the Blue Lagoon cruise early in the Corfu stay rather than at the end. It orients you to the island's coastal geography and makes the subsequent days read more clearly.

Day 1 - 4
Dominating the Attica region of Greece, the country’s capital, Athens, is one of the oldest cities in the world. For over two and a half centuries, the astonishing Greek temples and monuments of Athens have continued to intrigue and amaze visitors from around the world. This icon of western civilization seamlessly combines ancient history with modern architecture and a surprisingly lively atmosphere. This is particularly apparent in areas at the foot of the Acropolis, Anafiotika, Plaka, Monastiraki, and Thissio where visitors will find numerous extraordinary Neoclassical buildings, trendy and traditional cafes, and shops, and narrow winding streets with historical treasures at every turn. Once you have enjoyed a history and art fix, try some mouth-watering Greek cuisine at one of the city’s fine local restaurants before indulging in the insatiable nightlife at the chic cocktail bars and waterfront dance clubs.

Short on time but want to see everything that Athens has to offer? We know how to get you around all the ‘must see’ sites and sights. Our Athens city tour takes you to the most important sites of the historic capital. The Panathenaic Stadium was the site of the first Olympic Games of modern times in 1896. The Prime Minister's residence (ex. Royal Palace) is guarded by the Evzones in their colorful uniform. The Temple of Olympian Zeus,Hadrian's Arch, Parliament, and the memorial to the Unknown Soldier, the Academy, the University, the National Library, and Omonia Square. We make a short stop at each place. Of course, we can’t leave out the Acropolis, home to the Architectural Masterpieces of the Golden Age of Athens: The Propylaea, the Temple of Athena Nike, the Erechtheion and ‘the harmony between material and spirit’, the monument that ‘puts the order in the mind’, the Parthenon and the Theatre of Dionysus'. Concluding the tour, we will visit the new Acropolis Museum and admire the wonders of the classical era.
Day 5 - 8
Located off Greece’s northwest coast in the Ionian Sea, the cosmopolitan island of Corfu is among the most beautiful of all the Greek islands. It is most famous for its emerald mountains, sun-baked olive groves, and crystal-clear waters, which lap a rugged coastline. Explore the maze of narrow cobblestoned lanes in the Venetian old quarter; discover the picturesque cottages covered in wisteria, bougainvillea, jacaranda, and roses; and enjoy the many delightful beaches. Don’t miss the opportunity to trace the steps of the famous author, Gerald Durrell, who spent a few years of his childhood exploring the beauty and wildlife of this enchanting island in his widely acclaimed book: My Family and Other Animals.

The “Blue Lagoon” excursion is perfect for nature and adventure lovers, as well as those seeking a relaxing day on the azure coastline of the Greek mainland. You will have the chance to explore the deep blue sea and experience stunning natural beauty.
The day begins with a stop at the historic cave where the Greek submarine Papanikolis sheltered during World War II. Next, we sail to the breathtaking and remote Bella Vraka Beach.
The highlight of the day is Blue Lagoon Bay, where you can swim, discover the pristine underwater scenery, or join the optional champagne diving contest. Enjoy the crystal-clear waters and optional watersports.
The final stop is the picturesque fishing village of Sivota, where you will have two hours to stroll around the port and narrow alleys, visit cafés and shops, or enjoy lunch in one of the local tavernas (optional).

Four nights in Athens and three in Corfu is a well-considered split for eight days in Greece. Athens gets the time it deserves — the guided Acropolis tour, the Acropolis Museum, the Cape Sounion sunset excursion, and the Peloponnese day to Epidaurus, Mycenae, and Nafplio give the mainland section real depth. The Meteora excursion on the fourth day asks for an early start, but the monasteries on their rock columns above the Thessaly plain are genuinely unlike anything else in Greece and earn the long day.
The Paxos and Antipaxos boat excursion from Corfu is the highlight of the island section. What I always tell people: go on a weekday and anchor at the southern beach on Antipaxos rather than the main one. The water clarity there is exceptional, and the difference in crowd level is significant. The sea cave sections of the Blue Lagoon cruise, accessible only by boat, are one of the more distinctive things the Ionian islands offer — and they read very differently from the water than from any photograph.
The ideal time to visit Athens and the Ionian island of Corfu is during the shoulder seasons, either in spring (April to June) or early autumn (September to October). You will enjoy beautiful weather for relaxing on Corfu's beaches and pleasant temperatures for exploring the historical sites of Athens, while avoiding the major summer crowds.
The cost for a week-long trip to Greece starts at approximately $1,100 for a mid-range experience, excluding international flights. While Corfu is less expensive than popular Cyclades islands like Santorini, a budget-friendly trip starts at around $65 per day, which covers basic expenses for meals and local travel.
In Athens, the must-see highlight is the Acropolis and the Parthenon. For the island portion of your trip, key activities on Corfu include cruising to the famous Blue Lagoon and exploring the nearby islands of Paxos and Antipaxos, known for their stunning sea caves and hidden beaches.
Because of the distance, flying is generally the quickest way to travel between the mainland and Corfu. The island itself is best explored by renting a car, which allows you to easily discover the Venetian old town, the mountain villages, and the secluded beaches along the rugged coastline.

Island hopping Cyclades Islands
We took a trip with tourlane in May 2024. We came across tourlane by chance. We went island hopping in the Greek Cyclades with a flight and organized transfer from island to island by ferry and private transfer to the hotels. Everything was perfectly organized and planned.

Island hopping Greece

Hello dear Tourlane Team!

Family trip to Greece
We had Tourlane plan a vacation with island hopping in Greece. Rental cars on every island, interesting hotels plus ferries and domestic flights. It was great how such a package was put together from our wishes. We are now looking forward to our vacation. Highly recommended.
Greece ISLAND HOPPING START: Athens, then we took the ferry to Paros, 4 days later to Naxos and finally 3 days to Santorini! You were so great! The island hopping went really well thanks to you! From cab, ferry to 3-star hotel, the whole organization! EVERYTHING TOP! And booking the trip was also super easy! I just want to say thank you, it was the best 14 days for a long time
We planned and carried out a family trip with Tourane. The entire planning went smoothly and all our wishes were taken into account. What was particularly pleasant were the very well organized transfers and hotels. Everything went very smoothly so that we could concentrate on the family vacation experience. We will be happy to use the Tourlane service for future family trips.
